About me ...
So, who the heck am I, you might well be asking. Let me start by saying what I am not: I am not a world-renowned expert on anxiety attacks, I am not a doctor or clinical psychologist, or any kind of medical professional. I am many other things, including a wife, a mother of two lovely girls, a university graduate, an ex-IT professional, a teacher, and a musician.
I have experienced anxiety attacks at various times, for various reasons, and at various levels of intensity. My journey with anxiety began a few days after the birth of my first child, when I had my first panic attack. At the time I had no idea what was happening to me and was terrified. I was eventually diagnosed with anxiety disorder and hyperventilation syndrome. The same thing happened after the birth of my second child, however I was half expecting it to happen again, and I had learned a lot from the first time so I was better prepared. I experienced anxiety attacks again over the years for various reasons, including severe prolonged workplace stress, and later from anti-depressant withdrawal. During my journey so far I have learned a lot about myself and discovered some very helpful tools and techniques along the way. I am now here sharing my knowledge with anyone who may be interested in my take on anxiety and what I’ve found helpful for dealing with it.
Note that while I have a science degree and have studied some human biology at university level, I am not a medical professional. I try to present information in a logical and factual way, however the nature of a blog is that posts contain the author's own opinions, and are therefore individual and subjective.
